Roller Coaster Weight Ride 2018

Advocare, Virgin Diet, Keto Diet

2018 has been a transformative year. I continue to average 10,000 steps a day.  I started this in 2016 using my FitBit and transitioned to the Apple Watch but paying attention to this goal led to so much growth.

In April I became a member of a spiritually group at work where team members encouraged me to add a daily meditation practice.  More about that in another post.

Maintaining a healthy weight (even moderately healthy -😊-) has always been a challenge.  Moving helps without a doubt but I adore food!  You can see my weight is a real roller coaster.  I’ve used FitBit’s App and Aria Scale to track since 2016 (manually entered data I’d recorded into the app for 2014 and 2015).

In June, I’d started the creep up so I did a 10-day Advocare Cleanse, dropped weight quickly BUT immediately started to spike up so I decided to try something new.

I listen to the most amazing podcast (The Sheri + Nancy Show) and they had J.J. Virgin on the show.  She created The Virgin Diet: Drop 7 Foods, Lose 7 Pounds, Just 7 Days.  After getting her book, researching and contemplating, I decided to embark upon a new eating journey.  I eliminated the 7 most inflammatory foods (sugar, gluten, soy, dairy, corn, peanuts and eggs).  Between mid-July and mid-Dec, I lost 18 lbs.  I certainly did not lose 7 lbs. in 7 days but I continually lost, kept it off and kept losing.   If you want to read more about the Virgin Diet, click here.

I’ll post more about the Virgin Diet in another post.  I photographed many of my meals and will share for anyone who wants to give it a go.

Welcome your questions and recommend you grab her book if you are interested.

I had hit a plateau though and decided to shake it up again.  Started the Keto Diet on Christmas Eve and really have lost 6 lbs. in 6 days so I will definitely be doing the Keto Diet for at least a month or so in 2019.  Would love tips, recipes and suggestions from any of you.  I will also share the journey for those who might want to give that a go.

Happy 2019!
